halloween snow dogs

Well. It seems that The Nightmare Before Christmas has landed here in Lancaster in the form of a Halloween Nor'easter. There's already about 6 inches on the ground and it's still snowing! Apparently this one is for the record books because the last record-setting early season snowfall was back in 1925. And this one has it beat.

But, I'm still planning on heading out to a Halloween party tonight, and the snow didn't stop me and Mr. DU from visiting the Humane League this morning to take pictures of some adoptable dogs. I think the snow made the pictures extra cute, don't you?

outfitted:: rosettes and cargos (and some beagles)

I know I've been light on the outfit posts recently, but do you all really want to see my t-shirts and ratty old cargo shorts that I wear most days around my house? Didn't think so.

Yesterday, I managed to dress up a little (sort of kind of) to head out to Home Depot for some paint. Mr. DU and I are in "designed to rent" mode for our house (can't say much more than that at this point, but I'll keep you posted!). But what it means for the house is that my decorating plans of wallpapering and updating living room/dining room with new furniture are on hold right now. I'm working with what we have, and I'll try to post my new inspiration board later this week.

And since we haven't had a Beagle Mania Monday in a while, here's a picture of Lucy and Meadow trying to get in on the outfitted photography action (and me with a ridiculous look on my face).

beagle mania (not) monday + stella

It's not Monday, but I sure could use some beagle mania (plus Stella) cuteness today, you guys.

As far as Mondays go, yesterday was probably one of the worst I've had in a while. As if Mondays aren't annoying enough, I got laid off from my job yesterday afternoon (yep, on a Monday), and unfortunately the area where I live isn't exactly swelling with opportunities in my field. I'm doing my best to view this as a positive thing, but in this area, in this economy, that's sort of tough.

What it does free me up to do is some freelance work, jewelry design, and blogging, so expect some more frequent blog posts. Although, I'm (obviously) on a shopping ban since the income stream has been cut off. So now I guess I'll get creative with what I've got.

Anyway, I'm off to tweak the resume and make some jewelry. Happy un-Monday!

tgif:: backyards and weekends

So glad it's Friday! To get into the weekend spirit, I wanted to share a some pictures I took a few weekends ago in our backyard. Sometimes that's all the farther you need to go to find some good photo opps (and some cute beagles).

I've always been a fan of this combination (in both clothing and in beer, in case you're wondering). I'm a little behind on outfit posting, so there are a still a few winter-ish outfits lurking about. But yay! The weather finally broke and we seem to be in for temperatures at least in the 60s now. Lots of rain, but that just gives me an excuse to buy some cute new raingear.

Awesome job perk, no? Sad reason, though. Thing 2 here (Lucy) and Thing 1 (Stella, the lab) got into a little tiff over food on Wednesday night and Lucy ended up with some battle wounds. After a 9 p.m. trip to the pet emergency hospital (thank goodness for those!), she's on antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and pain meds. She's also a little drowsy and can't be trusted to operate moving machinery, but she's doing well otherwise as long as I can keep her calm (she's a beagle, that's a tall order).

But she's been thoroughly enjoying her little jaunts to my office the past two days. And it only took her one day to figure out when it's lunchtime. Today at 11:45, she promptly began banging her water dish and barking at me (which is what she does at home at dinner time). Silly beagle.

It's been a few weeks since the last Beagle Mania Monday. No worries. My beagles have still been super cute despite the absence of a post. Witness: A few cuteness overload events I managed to catch on my camera over the past few weeks.



On a sad note, my little Meadow Beagle (that would be the one on her back in the above photos) has a loose tooth! She's only three, but she was a rescue and a stray, so she had a bit of a rough start. So now she's off to the vet and I'm off to buy doggie toothbrushes to make sure her remaining teeth stay clean and intact.

Listen, I said I liked (er...loved) beagles, so really, it was only a matter of time before I launched a regular weekly(ish) post dedicated to beagles. And since Mondays generally suck, I thought that would be a good day for some beagle cuteness. (That and, "Beagle Mania Tuesday" just didn't have the same ring to it.)

Mostly Beagle Mania Monday will be pictures of my beagles, because it's my blog and my beagles rock.



PS- I know that big black thing in the bottom left image isn't really a beagle, but I don't want her to feel left out of the fun, so I made her an honorary beagle, okay? Okay.
